Hydraulic Workover Units for Rent
Hydraulic Workover Units for Rent
Our hydraulic workover units (HWUs) are available for rent on sites across Western Australia, supporting a wide range of well intervention activities. Whether your site is onshore, offshore or space-constrained, we are able to assist with well maintenance, recompletions, plug and abandonment operations and more.
We pride ourselves on providing safe and effective deployment in the field. Each rental unit is fully equipped and backed by the support of our experienced team. If your project needs a flexible solution without the capital outlay of purchasing an HWU, our rental fleet is the option for you.
Why Rent a Hydraulic Workover Unit?
Renting a hydraulic workover unit is a flexible, cost-effective way to access high-performance intervention equipment without the long-term investment. It’s an ideal solution for short notice works and projects with fluctuating intervention needs or infrequent workovers. By renting, companies can scale their operations quickly, respond to emerging well integrity issues and avoid the logistical burden of owning and maintaining a dedicated unit. In short, renting an HWU:
Reduces downtime by only accessing equipment when it is needed.
Improves project flexibility with units that are tailored to specific site requirements.
Minimises up-front costs while still meeting operational standards for safety and efficiency.
For sites in remote locations, our compact and modular units can be mobilised quickly, with minimal setup and a small operational footprint.
What’s Included With A CCI Rental Unit
Our HWUs are engineered to API 4F standards and can handle up to 200 tonnes. All design and assembly is completed here in Western Australia to ensure that all HWUs are well suited to operational conditions. Whether it be cyclone-prone environments or compact offshore platforms, these units are built for high performance. They include systems such as:
Integrated pumping and rotary systems, suitable for a wide range of intervention tasks.
Tubing pick up and lay down systems, improving handling efficiency and reducing manual exposure.
Remote operation capabilities, minimising risk in high-pressure or space-restricted environments.
For offshore HWU applications, we include enhanced stability mechanisms to support platform operation.
Common Applications for a Hydraulic Snubbing Unit
Hydraulic workover units can be used for various well intervention and maintenance activities. Common applications include completions, recompletions and live interventions where pressure must be safely controlled without killing the well. HWUs are also used for snubbing operations, tubing recovery, gas lift valve replacement and plug and abandonment campaigns.
They are also ideal for tasks in high-pressure or sour gas environments, able to apply push/pull force under large pressures. Additionally, HWUs are often used on longer-term sites to extend the lifecycle of a well be enabling targeted intervention without the cost and complexity of a full drilling rig.
Remote and space constrained sites can also utilise an HWU. With a compact design and standalone operation, they can perform on offshore platforms and modular land-based setups.
Case Study: How CCI HWUs Enable Success in the Field
At the Cliff Head Platform in offshore Western Australia, CCI replaced an existing coiled tubing method with a hydraulic workover unit. The change was a great success, significantly reducing major accident events and overall operating costs. With the new technology, the project could shorten workover durations and increase equipment capability to improve safety and efficiency operation-wide.
Elsewhere, a project involving an outlying well with platform height constraints required a modified lift strategy to install the HWU and access the well safely. Here, the compact design and modular setup of our units proved vital, allowing our team to overcome the logistical challenges of a constrained environment.
